ASBA honors individual school board members, as well as entire governing boards, annually for personal efforts toward improvement; as incentive for voluntary board member in-service training; to promote the idea of better boardsmanship; and for service in ASBA, NSBA, or local board activities and events.

Awards are also presented to districts, schools and teachers for excellence in curriculum. A student scholarship and a student photography contest round out ASBA's awards.

INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBER AWARDS

Continuing Education Awards
Awards are presented to individual board members for personal efforts toward improvement. CEUs (Continuing Education Units) are self-reported at ASBA workshops.

To receive credit for eligble, non-ASBA events attended, complete and return the "Completing Non-ASBA Course Credits" form.  View / download

The Certificate of Orientation to Boardsmanship is awarded for completion of the ASBA Orientation Course. It is a prerequisite to all other Continuing Education Awards.

The Certificate of Boardsmanship is awarded for 36 Continuing Education Units in five core curriculum areas.

The Associate of Boardsmanship is awarded for 60 Continuing Education Units in eight core curriculum areas.

The Master of Boardsmanship is awarded for 84 Continuing Education Units in 10 core curriculum areas.

The Master of Boardsmanship with Clusters is awarded as recognition for continuing education beyond the Master of Boardsmanship.

Cactus Pin Award
Conferred on individual board members annually for self-reported service activities. Download materials

Honor Roll Award
Recognizes board members with more than eight years of service who are retiring. Nomination by board action is required. Nomination form

All-Arizona School Board Award
Recognizes outstanding Arizona school board members. Nomination by board action is required. A selection committee chooses the winners. Nomination form

ENTIRE SCHOOL BOARD AWARDS

Total Boardsmanship Award
Recognizes governing boards when at least a quorum of members has attained the level of Certificate of Boardsmanship.

Lou Ella Kleinz Award of Excellence
Recognizes the Arizona school board that demonstrates the most outstanding educational leadership each year. An entry form Must be completed. A selection committee chooses the winner. Nomination form

OTHER AWARDS

ASBA Barbara Robey Lifetime Achievement Award
Honors an individual who has made outstanding contributions in support of public education and ASBA's mission through servant leadership over an extended period of time.

The Golden Bells
Recognize school programs from throughout the state that have shown outstanding successes in student achievement. A district application is required. A selection committee chooses the winners. Nomination form

Media Awards
Recognize reporters and news organizations for non-biased coverage of education issues. Nomination by board action is required. A selection committee chooses the winners. Nomination form

Student Awards
 
The Jack Peterson Student Photography Contest recognizes student achievement in black-and-white and color photography. A student application is required. A selection committee chooses the winners.  Entry form

The Jack Peterson Scholarship Award is conferred on exceptional high school seniors who intend will major in teaching in college and plan to pursue it as a career. A student application is required. A selection committee chooses the winners. Entry form
