Board Member Training & Education Opportunities

Providing resources and opportunities that enhance the skills and knowledge of school board members is at the heart of ASBA's mission.

Throughout the year, ASBA provides approximately 150 hours of education and training programs that are open to all Arizona school board members; many are also open to superintendents and their staff. In 2007, ASBA also provided approximately 150 hours of tailored training for individual boards.

ASBA carries out searches for and assists with hiring of superintendents and other key executives on behalf of members boards as a fee service. Learn more about ASBA Executive Searches.

As a service to member boards and other education professionals, ASBA provides listings of other superintendent and executive-level searches.

Individual school board members, as well as entire governing boards, are honored annually for personal efforts toward improvement; as incentive for voluntary board member in-service training; to promote the idea of better boardsmanship; and for service in ASBA, NSBA, or local board activities and events. Awards are also presented to districts, schools and teachers for excellence in curriculum. A student scholarship and a student photography contest round out ASBA's awards.
